charity quiz night

Here at Orthosmile we are always looking at ways to give back to our community and ways to support charities. Having asked our patients which charity they would like to see Orthosmile support and wanting to support a charity present in our local community, we chose to support the Chelsea Pensioners and Royal Hospital Chelsea. With this year being the 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day, we thought it was particularly pertinent to support those who have dedicated their lives serving their country in their time in need.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is an independent charity funded in part by a grant from the government, but they need to make up a shortfall in funding to deliver everything need to provide a home for the Chelsea Pensioners and the highest standard of care. The Royal Hospital has only recently started exploring Corporate Partnerships and Orthosmile is proud to have partnered with a cause supporting our nation’s veterans.

In September we hosted a Charity Quiz Night at The Royal Hospital. It was an absolute privilege to be in the stunning grounds of the hospital and the quiz itself was hosted in The Chelsea Pensioner pub which is not open to the general public. Attended by staff, family, friends, patients and referring dentists to Orthosmile, the ticketed event was further supported by funds raised from a raffle with prizes kindly donated by both Orthosmile and The Royal Hospital gift shop. There was even a grand prize of two tickets to the Governor’s Parade! The night was a big success and raised over £1,200! The winning pub quiz team even donated their winnings to the Chelsea Pensioners. The money raised goes directly to funding exercise equipment for the pensioners, in order to help them maintain physical fitness and to help with physiotherapy.

It was a fantastic and fun evening, with Chelsea Pensioners in attendance, and it was a great opportunity to spend time with them and learn about their time at the hospital and their service to our country. A big thanks are also in order to Chelsea Pensioner John, who was the Master of Ceremonies and hosted one fantastic quiz!
